This workshop pushes the boundaries of block printing by adding a layer of texture and experimentation to your Lino with an etching techniques.
Most of us are familiar with the traditional carving of Lino block. Easy enough to be produced and printed at home, This is a familiar and well appreciated technique by most professional and amateur printmakers.

During this workshop, you will learn how to design, carve and ETCH a linoleum block as well as produce a small edition on paper, cardboard, fabric, t-shirt and/or tote bags.
This workshop spans over 2 sessions:
Wednesday - from 16:30 till 21:00: Creating your lino block
discover how artists have developed compositions for linocut printmaking. View examples from contemporary printmakers.
design a motif and transfer to your lino
Carve and etch your lino
Learn about the different types of materials and objects used as printmaking surfaces (from paper and beyond)
Saturday - 10:00 till 14:30: Printing
Test print and troubleshoot your carved/etched lino block.
Create a small edition of prints
Experiment with different surfaces such as coloured paper, fabric and t-shirts etc.
Requirements:
No previous printmaking skills are required, everyone is invited to join! But if you do have previous knowledge, all the better:-)
Students are asked to bring along some research and/or images to work from. These could be drawings, magazine clippings, books, photographs – anything that will inspire you.
Printmaking paper can be purchased through the instructor or in advance at the appropriate art shop (e.g. Boesner or Modulor)
Please purchase 2 Lino plates either at Boesner or Modulor - NO LARGER THAN A5 (or A4 to cut in half) - further instructions will be given after booking (what type of Lino to buy etc.)
