HANDS-ON INTRODUCTION TO ETCHING - HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN PRINTS USING A VARIETY OF TECHNIQUES
SIGN UP HERE!
This workshops is centred around my love for traditional Etching/ Engraving in combination with the more experimental techniques I acquired from masters, friends and colleagues since 2009.
Designed for beginners and those with some experience, the aim of this course is to give you an overview of line Etching. Together we will learn how to prepare a zinc plate, create a design/pattern suitable for etching, applying and working with hard grounds as well as building a basic printing experience.
The workshop requires a basic knowledge of drawing/image production skills (photography, collage...etc) and a love for process and learning.
Introduction to Etching takes place in 2 sessions:
Wednesday evening 16:30 - 21:00: Plate preparation, hard ground cover, designing and etching
Saturday morning 10:00 - 14:30 / Wednesday evening: Etching final details and printing
A follow up course can then be added during which we will cover the tonal components of etching (Aquatint)
